West Hollywood
Available West Hollywood Vacation Package
West Hollywood is located in Los Angeles County, California and is bordered on the north by Hollywood Hills, on the east by Hollywood, on the west by Beverly Hills and on the south by Fairfax. The city is one of the most notable gay villages in the United States and is host to the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival, the largest Halloween street party in the country, and a Gay Pride Parade and Festival.
Being a small and densely populated city, you can easily walk from Sunset Boulevard and the Sunset Strip to Santa Monica Boulevard's gay and Russian communities, then to the south to the Avenues of Art & Design district, passing several celebrity homes along the way.
The famous Sunset Strip of Sunset Boulevard is bordered by both Hollywood and Beverly Hills and is lined with a dazzling array of nightclubs, restaurants, spas, world-class hotels and boutiques. You can travel the entire Strip on foot - stop at the historic dance clubs like Whisky a Go-Go, Roxy or Rainbow, enjoy ritzy and trendy shopping, or dine alfresco at Sunset Millennium or Sunset Plaza. As you stroll along and take in the unparalleled landscape and award-winning billboards (second only to Times Square in New York), you will be in the company of great names such as Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Depp, Jerry Seinfeld, Brad Pitt, Lindsay Lohan and many more.
Santa Monica Boulevard connects the east side of Los Angeles with the Pacific Ocean and is a pedestrian friendly area with two distinct populations - the gay and Russian communities. The most popular gay and lesbian scene in Los Angeles, the boulevard is sometimes referred to as "Boys' Town" and has fun gay nightclubs, cafés and bookstores, all bustling with people on any given evening. Santa Monica is also the location for the Christopher Street West Gay Pride Parade in June, though the main thoroughfare is adorned every day with rainbow flags.
At the east end of Santa Monica Boulevard is the West Hollywood Gateway, a shopping center with some of the country's largest retailers. A little west from there is the largest Russian speaking immigrant community with many restaurants, delis and community centers in English, Russian, Yiddish, Hebrew and other cultures. Some events happening on this side of the city include the award winning Helen Albert Certified Farmer's Market and the Russian Nights Festival.
The Avenues of Art & Design encompass Melrose Avenue, Robertson and Beverly Boulevards and is a pedestrian friendly district with over 1.5 million square feet of galleries, shops and showrooms to explore. See everything from high-end fashion, interior design and art galleries to restaurants, cafés, bookshops and boutiques, this collection of streets anchored by the Pacific Design Center (or "Blue Whale") is a great place to shop and even spot the occasional celebrity.
