Shopping
Shopping in Hawaii is a wonderfully diverse experience, with a large collection of shopping centers and malls that feature a wide variety of department stores, boutiques, restaurants and entertainment venues. The largest and most prominent shopping centers are located on the island of Oahu.
Ala Moana Shopping Center is located just outside of Waikiki and is the largest outdoor shopping center in the U.S. and extremely popular with both visitors and residents. Over 260 stores and 70 dining options are connected by open-air walkways throughout four separate levels. You'll find everything from big name brands like Armani, Banana Republic, Polo/Ralph Lauren and Abercrombie & Fitch to locally owned shops and boutiques. A large food court is located on the bottom level and the Ho'okipa Terrace on the top floor is home to a collection of good restaurants.
The Victoria Ward Center is a continually growing shopping venue located just two blocks from Ala Moana Center that features a large entertainment center with one of the largest movie theater complexes in the state, a wide variety of small stores and boutiques and a selection of some very good restaurants. Kahala Mall is a small, indoor mall located just outside of Waikiki, close to Diamond Head. You'll find a good selection of stores that includes Macy's, Complete Kitchen, Barnes & Noble Bookstore and a small movie theater complex.
Outside of Honolulu is the Pearl Ridge Center, located at the gateway to Leeward Oahu and overlooking Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. The mall is separated into two sections called Uptown and Downtown that both have a large variety of shops, restaurants and boutiques. Further west is the Waikele Premium Outlets, the only outlet mall in the state of Hawaii. Name brands represented include Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, Coach, Polo/Ralph Lauren and more.
Windward Mall is located on the windward side of the island in Kaneohe. The mall is entirely indoors and has a unique collection of locally owned shops and eateries along with larger department stores and restaurants. Those looking for specialty shops should check out 80% Straight in Waikiki, located right below Hula's Bar & Lei Stand. You'll find a large selection of men's active wear, swimwear, underwear and accessories. Over Easy/Down Under is located at the Waikiki Town Center on Kuhio Avenue and sells a variety of active wear, swimwear and beach accessories.
