The Hawaii Theatre was originally built by the Consolidated Amusement Company in 1922. In 1984, Consolidated's lease expired and the theatre was picked up by Hawaii Theatre Center in 1986.
Today, the Hawaii Theatre is known as the "Pride of the Pacific" and has been recognized as the "Outstanding Historic Theatre in America" by the League of Historic American Theatres. It has also received an Honor Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
